Iain R. Webb - DRAWING FASHION: sketchbooks from the edge of the catwalk - 4 June to 6 August 2022
Iain R. Webb originally studied Fashion Design at St Martin’s School of Art (1977-80). He was appointed Professor of Fashion & Design at Kingston School of Art in 2016 and has previously held Visiting Professor roles at both Central Saint Martins and Royal College of Art. He is currently an associate lecturer at Central St Martins and Bath Spa University.
During his career he has been fashion editor of BLITZ, The Evening Standard, Harpers & Queen, The Times, Elle and Vogue Russia; winning the Fashion Journalist of The Year Award in 1995 (the inaugural year) and 1996. Other journalistic contributions include the New York Times, New Musical Express, The Guardian, The Independent, The Huffington Post, Saturday Telegraph Magazine, V&A magazine, Selvedge, Gut, Rollacoaster, and Shortlist, among others. He is Fashion Features Editor-At-Large of Ponystep magazine. Iain has consulted and collaborated with leading brands including Helmut Lang, Raf Simons for Fred Perry, LVMH, Selfridges, Gucci, Burberry, Cutler & Gross, M&S, Kangol, Ghost, MaxMara, Jigsaw, River Island, and Day, Birger & Mikkelsen.
He is author of Bill Gibb - Fashion and Fantasy, Foale & Tuffin: A Decade in Fashion, Postcards From the Edge of the Catwalk, As Seen in BLITZ, Vogue Colouring Book, Marc Jacobs Unseen, John Galliano for Dior and Rebel Stylist, among others. His latest publication is The Fashion Show (published March 2022) - a curated collection of fashion show invitations. Other curatorial projects include exhibitions at the ICA, RCA, Somerset House, MoBA Biennale, Arnhem and Fashion Museum, Bath, where he acts as a creative consultant.
This exhibition has a significant local connection as Iain R. Webb is an alumnus of a local school, John of Gaunt, in Trowbridge. John of Gaunt School will present the work of their A-Level students in the Project Space from 28 June to 2 July alongside the Iain R Webb exhibition (please book to see both exhibitions via the booking link below).
Visitor Information: The exhibition is normally open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm - in order to visit the exhibition, please book a free ticket to see the exhibition by following this link. Please note that we cannot guarantee entry to the full exhibition without a pre-booked, but free, ticket.

Drawing Projects UK is a centre for research and development of drawing and contemporary art in Trowbridge, the county town of Wiltshire, and has excellent public transport links. Drawing Projects UK (Bridge House, 10 Stallard Street, Trowbridge, BA14 9AE) is adjacent to Trowbridge train station which has mainline services to Bath, Bristol, Bruton, Cardiff, Gloucester, London, Salisbury, Southampton, Swindon, Westbury and Weymouth; and there are several public car parks nearby.
Drawing Projects UK is an accessible venue and a blue badge parking space is available. We operate a no pets policy although assistance dogs are welcome. Miranda's Coffee Shop serves delicious coffee & teas, home-made cakes and light food, and is usually open from 8am to 3pm Monday to Saturday. Please note that Miranda's will be closed from 20 to 29 June. Excellent coffee can be found at Cesar's Coffee Bar over the road and we will happily make recommendations for places to eat for those travelling from afar.
