Creative Trowbridge Trail on 14 July with Explore Art Trowbridge
Active Trowbridge is having its annual Active Festival in Trowbridge Park on Saturday 14 July, Explore Art Trowbridge is joining in the activities with ‘Creative Trowbridge’ which encourages young people and adults to take part in a creative trail from 10am to 4pm starting in Trowbridge Park and working their way around various art activities and venues in the town.
Trowbridge Museum will have a stand at the Active Festival in the park and their volunteers will be handing out activity packs to start children off on a discovery trail. Children will need to solve clues, take rubbings and collect items in the park before heading off to the first activities at Court Street Gallery where they will use their findings to make decorated paper.
From Court Street Gallery they will follow the trail to Town Hall Arts to use their decorated paper to take part in a collaborative large-scale papercut drawing inspired by the Active Festival theme of ‘Around the World’, which will then be displayed for visitors to the Town Hall to see. Participants can also make something to take away on the day.
At Drawing Projects UK there will be an exhibition by distinguished artists and makers that explores the theme of ‘Around the World’. An artist-led Drawing Session in The Centre for Drawing Project Space will encourage participants to draw ‘their place in the world’. There will also be a free Drawing Discussion at 4pm. The free events are kindly supported by Bath Spa University.
Families will then be encouraged to return to the Park for the afternoon’s events of the Active Festival which include different sports and activities with plenty of inflatable fun as well.
Around the World is held in association with Active Trowbridge and its annual Active Festival in Trowbridge Park. Explore Art Trowbridge (EAT), a collaboration since 2016 between the cultural venues - Trowbridge Museum, Town Hall Arts and Drawing Projects UK - which presents co-produced events throughout the year that highlight the creative and cultural offer in Trowbridge, the county town of Wiltshire.
