A Poetry Reading with Abeer Ameer on Saturday 1 June at 2pm
You are warmly invited to a poetry reading by Abeer Ameer at Drawing Projects UK on Saturday 1 June from 2pm to 4pm. Abeer Ameer will read from her debut collection Inhale/Exile (Seren, 2021) and more recent work. The reading will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and a book signing. Abeer Ameer is a poet of Iraqi heritage who lives in Cardiff, Wales. She trained as a dentist in London developing an interest in the treatment of anxious patients and mindfulness. Her poems are often inspired by stories of Iraq and include a range of personal and political themes and have appeared widely online and in-print publications including: Acumen, Poetry Wales, Magma, Under the Radar, Planet, New Welsh Reader, The Rialto and The Poetry Review. Her debut poetry collection, Inhale/ Exile, was published by Seren in 2021 and shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year in 2022.
This event is convened by poet and writer, Josephine Corcoran, as part of the programme of poetry sessions held a Drawing Projects UK by the Trowbridge Poetry Stanza.
The Trowbridge Stanza was set up by Josephine Corcoran in 2016, and is a Poetry Society Stanza meeting on the first Saturday of the month at Drawing Projects UK in Trowbridge. A friendly, inclusive group, Trowbidge Stanza is a mixture of published and unpublished poets, with an age range of 16+ to 80+ and travel to Drawing Projects UK (which is next to Trowbridge train station) from all over the South West region and beyond.
