Girl Friday Breakfast Club with Su Fahy on 22 December

Join us online for the Girl Friday Breakfast Club with artist and curator, Su Fahy on Friday 22 December 2023 at 8am (UK-time), convened by Anita Taylor. More information and tickets available here.

Su Fahy is an artist and curator working in fine art, principally drawing and photography. Fahy’s research utilizes the aura of the documentary photographic image in order to interrogate and contextualize our readings of natural or architectural environments. Working principally to commission, Fahy engages with theorists, photographers and archive materials with a view to producing images for collaborative publication or exhibition.

Recent projects have included Fugitive Testimonies (2009-2019) an artist led archive, Severn Worlding (2022) including the production of a short form artist film Performing Resistance: Magnoxia, a River Haunting and Postcards for Perec (2021) a World Book Night Artists’ Collective Publication and touring exhibition (2021-24).

Su Fahy is a member of The Monica Sjöö Curatorial Collective (MSCC), a group of art historians, curators and academics and supporters who are all admirers of the artist and activist Monica Sjöö’s work and want her place to be finally recognized, as like so many women artists, she has been neglected for too long. Working collaboratively to recuperate and re-present, within a diverse range of understandings, the expanded practice of Monica Sjöö: Artist, feminist activist, writer, scholar of Goddess cultures and eco feminist. Anita Taylor is an artist, curator and educator, and Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee. She is the founding Director of the foremost annual Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize [since 1994], and Drawing Projects UK, a public-facing initiative dedicated to drawing [since 2009].

The Girl Friday Breakfast Club was established by Professors Kate Reynolds and Anita Taylor in 2018 to provide a friendly and informal space for women to meet and to hear from an interesting woman speaker, eat breakfast and drink great coffee or tea together at Drawing Projects UK on the last Friday of each month. We held our first online Girl Friday in October 2020 after realising we had longer to go before we could gather again for breakfast due to lockdown. We aim to retain the informal format, and events are not recorded, so do book to join in - and bring your own breakfast - or lunch or supper depending on where you are in the world! All women, and those who identify as women, are very welcome to join the Girl Friday Breakfast Club.

Please note that Annual Season Ticket Holders will receive an email with a direct joining link for this event.

Joining the online event: Please note that the Zoom link to join this event will be made available in the online event information that you will find once you have registered for the event - you will need to log into Eventbrite to find this. You will then either need to click on the joining link OR copy and paste the link into your web browser to join the event on the day.

We look forward to welcoming you!
