Girl Friday Breakfast Club with Penny Harris on 2 June 2023

Join us online at 8am (UK time) on Friday 2 June 2023 for the Girl Friday Breakfast Club with Penny Harris, convened by Anita Taylor.

This is the second event in the 2023/24 Annual Season of Girl Friday Breakfast Club events and it is now possible to purchase a Season Ticket or a Single Ticket here. Season Tickets holders will receive the link via email and do not need to register on Eventbrite.

Penny Harris graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business from Kingston University London, coming to the art world with a strong commercial sense. She realised that she could help artists by developing best practices and strategies, and has devoted her career to promoting the visual arts ever since. Penny started her career at Earl's Court Exhibition Centre, quickly moving from working on the fine art and antique fair to becoming Head of Research. She went on to become Exhibitions and Events Manager at the Mall Galleries, and later to work as an agent for international artists, organising worldwide tours and gallery representation arrangements.

In 1990, Penny Harris along with Emma Parker founded Parker Harris, an arts consultancy working with major corporate sponsors of the arts. With the help of a small, dedicated team, they manage visual arts projects spanning all disciplines and all scales. In the last 30 years, Parker Harris has become one of the UK’s leading arts consultancies, overseeing public and private art commissions, art prizes and exhibitions, both nationally and internationally including the Derwent Art Prize, ING Discerning Eye, and Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize. Parker Harris also use their extensive experience to help contemporary artists on their way to building sustainable and successful careers, and currently run a mentoring programme for artists, The Art Ladder.

Professor Anita Taylor is an artist, curator and Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee. She is the founding Director of the foremost annual drawing exhibition in the UK, the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize [since 1994], and Drawing Projects UK, a public-facing initiative dedicated to drawing [since 2009].

The Girl Friday Breakfast Club was established by Professors Kate Reynolds and Anita Taylor in 2018 to provide a friendly and informal space for women to meet and to hear from an interesting woman speaker, eat breakfast and drink great coffee or tea together at Drawing Projects UK on the last Friday of each month. We held our first online Girl Friday in October 2020 and have reached a new and growing audience. We aim to retain the original informal format, and events are not recorded, so do book to join in - and bring your own breakfast, lunch or supper, depending on where you are in the world! All women, and those who identify as women, are welcome to join the Girl Friday Breakfast Club.

Tickets: There is an Annual Season Ticket option for the Girl Friday Breakfast Club that runs until 29 March 2024. The Annual Season Ticket enables you to attend all of the online Girl Friday Breakfast Club events that are held during the 2023/24 season. Single tickets for this event only are also available.

Joining the online event: Please note that the Zoom link to join this event will be made available in the online event information that you will find once you have registered for the event - you will need to log into Eventbrite to find this. You will then either need to click on the joining link OR copy and paste the link into your web browser to join the event on the day.

We look forward to welcoming you!
