On Friday 25 February 2022 our Girl Friday Breakfast Club guest speaker will be Lorena Pino Montillo - please join us online on at 8:00am (GMT) by registering here

Lorena Pino Montilla is a journalist and film promoter from Caracas, Venezuela. Since 2017 she has organised more than a dozen film events at Town Hall Arts in Trowbridge under the concept of “Getting Together Through Films” using cinema to build bridges between communities and exploring topics of migration and identity. From June 2021, she is curating the new weekly film programme at Trowbridge Town Hall. She has been volunteering for FilmBath since 2012 and from 2018 has been part of the programming team. Lorena also has been working for the festival Cinema Rediscovered, Bristol, and has been beneficiary of the programmes Making it Possible (Raising Films) and Beyond Boundaries (Film Hub South West). Lorena was a Lecturer at the Universidad Central de Venezuela of Television and Cinema and is author of The Venezuelan Female Drama, Centuries XIX-XX and Distribution and Exhibition of Cinema in Caracas, 1950-1960. Apart from her work with films, she works as a Spanish teacher at different levels.

The Girl Friday Breakfast Club was established by Kate Reynolds and Anita Taylor in 2018 to provide a friendly and informal space for women to meet and to hear from an interesting woman speaker, eat breakfast and drink great coffee or tea together at Drawing Projects UK on the last Friday of each month. We held our first online Girl Friday in October 2020 after realising we had longer to go before we could gather again for breakfast due to lockdown. We aim to retain the informal format, and events are not recorded, so do book to join in - and bring your own breakfast, or lunch or supper depending on where you are in the world! All women, and those who identify as women, are very welcome to join the Girl Friday Breakfast Club.
