Girl Friday Breakfast Club with Mariele Neudecker on 26 April

On Friday 26 April 2019 our Girl Friday Breakfast Club guest speaker will be the artist, Mariele Neudecker.

Mariele Neudecker was born in Germany and studied at Goldsmiths College and Chelsea School of Art and Design in London, and now lives and works in Bristol. She is nationally and internationally recognised, and has shown in Biennales in Japan, Australia and Singapore, as well as solo shows at the Ikon Gallery, Tate St Ives and Tate Britain. She is a Professor and Research Fellow at Bath Spa University, Fellow for CERN’s Visiting Artists Program and is on the European Commission’s JRC SciArt advisory panel. She works with Galerie Barbara Thumm, Berlin, Thomas Rehbein Galerie, Cologne, Galeria Pedro Cera, Lisbon and in camera galerie, Paris.

Mariele Neudecker uses a broad range of media including sculpture, film, and photography, as well as sound. Her practice investigates the formation and historical dissemination of cultural constructs around the natural and technological world and notions of a Contemporary Sublime. Mariele often uses technology’s virtual capabilities in order to reproduce a heightened experience of landscape, thus addressing the subjective and mediated condition of any first hand encounter. She has worked with scientists and engineers and their methods and research. For her, technology both enables and limits our perception and experience of the worlds we inhabit.

The Girl Friday Breakfast Club was established by Kate Reynolds and Anita Taylor to provide a friendly and informal space for women to meet, chat, and support each other. There is no agenda other than hearing from an interesting woman speaker, eating breakfast and drinking great coffee or tea together in Miranda's Coffee Shop at Drawing Projects UK on the last Friday of each month from 8:00am to 10:00am.

The ticket price includes breakfast at Miranda's. Please book your Girl Friday Breakfast in advance here or with us directly, so we know how many to cater for!

All women, and those who identify as women, are very welcome to join the Girl Friday Breakfast Club.
