Drawing Projects UK is pleased to present In Between Sea and Shore, the annual Bath Spa Porthleven Prize exhibition. The exhibition opens on the evening of Thursday 2 May 2019, from 6-8pm, and continues until 18 May 2019.
In Between Sea and Shore includes work by Poppy Briggs, Lyon Hansen, Alex Mah, Mariana Marcelino, Katie Sims, James Thornton and Deborah Westmancoat. The exhibition presents the work of seven Bath Spa University students who each were awarded a fully-funded artist residency at the Old Lifeboat House art studio in Porthleven, Cornwall, which they undertook in May 2018 as part of the Bath Spa Porthleven Prize.
The Bath Spa Porthleven Prize provides the opportunity for Bath Spa students, from all levels of study, to take part in a fully-funded five-day research visit for fifteen students, followed by a ten-day residency for the seven award-winning students based in the studio in the heart of Porthleven. Each of the seven artists explored a theme of 'provenance' - the place or source of origin, inspired by Porthleven, working together to produce a body of work in any discipline they choose, including film, sound, sculpture, and visual art. The initiative helps to foster the unique relationship between Bath Spa University and the South West Coast of England, and is the outcome of a close working relationship between Bath Spa University and the Trevor Osborne Property Group.
Open hours are: 12noon to 4pm Thursday to Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturdays.
Miranda's Coffee Shop is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 8am to 4pm.
