On Friday 27 December 2019 our Girl Friday Breakfast Club guest speaker will be Laura Brown. As it's the holiday season this will be a late breakfast from 10am to 12noon.
Laura Brown is an arts, culture and heritage professional. She currently manages the Art and Design Collection at Bath Spa University and is also Chair of The Pound Arts Trust. She was the Appeal Director for the Bath Abbey Footprint Appeal, with responsibility for directing the £19.3 million capital appeal to repair the Abbey floor, utilise waste-water from the hot springs for energy efficient heating, and create a network of facilities to support the Abbey in its mission. Previously Head of Learning and Visitor Services for The American Museum in Britain and, before relocating to the UK, she was Assistant Curator of Education at the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York, USA. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Imaging Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Dayton, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Photographic Preservation and Archival Practice from the George Eastman Museum. In her role as the curator of Bath Spa University Art and Design Collection, she has established the Collections Policy and Management systems for University Collection and made it accessible to both internal and external audiences. The Collection which aims to document the history and works of past and present students and staff of Bath Spa University and its predecessor colleges, and to preserve the creative and historical activities associated with the University and its sites.
The Girl Friday Breakfast Club was established by Kate Reynolds and Anita Taylor to provide a friendly and informal space for women to meet, chat, and support each other. There is no agenda other than hearing from an interesting woman speaker, eating breakfast and drinking great coffee or tea together in Miranda's Coffee Shop at Drawing Projects UK on the last Friday of each month.
