On Friday 27 September 2019 our Girl Friday Breakfast Club guest speaker will be the curator and producer, Fiona Cassidy.
Fiona Cassidy’s varied career began with a chemistry degree and has since been peppered with returns to education, including a Fine Art Sculpture degree and an MA in Curatorial Practice from Bath Spa University. Her first ‘proper job’ in 1992 was store management with Majestic Wine. Between 2009 and 2017 she curated 70+ exhibitions in arts centres across the South West. Now she is responsible for the smooth running of Screenology film school in Bristol. Fiona worked closely with the sculptor Michael Pennie to develop the Adventures in Wiltshire series of exhibitions in 2015 and in 2017, she curated Drawings of Different Sizes for Drawing Projects UK and Six Decades, Six Sculptures for the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath, producing two video biographies that accompanied the exhibitions - Michael Pennie Drawings and Michael Pennie Sculptures (available on You Tube). In 2018 she made the film, When Chances Present Themselves, which was centred on Michael Pennie's friendships with former students and fellow teachers.
The Girl Friday Breakfast Club was established by Kate Reynolds and Anita Taylor to provide a friendly and informal space for women to meet, chat, and support each other. There is no agenda other than hearing from an interesting woman speaker, eating breakfast and drinking great coffee or tea together at Drawing Projects UK on the last Friday of each month from 8:00am to 10:00am.
The ticket price includes your delicious breakfast catered by Miranda's coffee shop. Miranda caters for gluten-free and vegan-friendly guests too. Please book your Girl Friday Breakfast in advance, so we know how many to cater for!
Please note that on Friday 27 September there will be no parking available at Bridge House.
All women, and those who identify as women, are very welcome to join the Girl Friday Breakfast Club
